There is no consensus among parents/students and the teachers now!!

The parents do not want class 12 board examinations for the students (just like CBSE) but the teachers want the board exams to be held. It is worthy to mention that the TN government had asked around 7000 higher secondary schools to find out the opinions of parents and teachers.

Yesterday, the schools had compiled the feedback and sent that to the Directorate of School Education. Today, the school education department would hold an online meeting with the health experts, educationists etc to decide about the class 12 board examinations.

The postponement of the board exams had created huge stress among the students and this was pointed out by a parent of Kolathur. She added that the third wave would affect the children and hence it would be better if the board exams get cancelled. For admission to the higher courses, board exams are very important and this was according to Mr. K.P.O. Suresh, state president of TN PG Teachers Association. He spoke about how the majority of students do not have access to the online classes and how the question pattern must be more liberal.

Just 25% students and their parents want the board exams to be conducted and this was as per the survey. Principal of the Ashok Nagar based school mentioned how the parents were more concerned about the life of the children than the board examinations.

Teachers as well as top ranking students want the board exams to be conducted and this was brought to light by the headmistress belonging to Saidapet based school. Mental exhaustion and tiredness were cited as the reasons by many students and they do not want the board exams.

Just 3 months of offline classes were not sufficient to write the board examinations and this was also mentioned by the students as a reason for cancelling the board exams. It was later stated by a headmaster belonging to a government school in Chennai that the parents of students from the government schools do not want the board exams to be conducted. He threw light on how out of 600 students in his school parents of more than 400 students were not for the board exams.

As per the principal belonging to Chetpet based school it was clear that in his school 30% students and 100% teachers were in favour of conducting the board examinations.
