The singer from Chennai who started her film music career from Ilayaraja`s Enna Enna Seithai song from Ivan has bestowed her shelves with innumerable awards including, Padma Bhushan, Padma Shri and Kalaimamani.
She had performed and collaborated with artists from all over the world with her intriguing world music knowledge. It doesn`t surprise one that she started singing bajans at the age of three.
She has not stopped her music wavelength to herself but teaches a lot of students in her own school Sudhaarnava Academy for Musical Excellence in a traditional way.
She has not only lit the light in the hearts of the listeners of her music but also to many people who lost their livelihood in the Gujarat earthquake and cyclone relief in Orissa through her Samudhaaya Foundation.
