GCC in this severe second COVID infection wave is not doing this says residents

Chennai residents would not have forgotten the kabasura kudineer and immunity boosting tablets distributed by the GCC during the first Coronavirus infection wave last year.

When compared to the first Covid-19 infection wave last year, the second wave now is very severe in Chennai. The news is that GCC till now hasnt distributed kabasura kudineer and immunity boosting tablets like it did during the first wave.

It was brought to light by a resident from Teynampet that in the first Covid-19 wave, GCC gave kabasura kudineer and immunity boosting zinc tablets etc for the people belonging to the containment zones. She added that this time around there is no such distribution from GCC. On the streets around the Koyambedu wholesale market, kabasura kudineer was distributed by GCC and the infection spread was controlled well. As a part of area based strategy, kabasura kudineer was then given to those in the containment zones in Chennai.

According to an officer belonging to Chennai Corporation, kabasura kudineer powder and immunity boosting tablets were given to the family members of the infected persons. He explained that tablets are being given to those with influenza like illness visiting the fever clinics.

It must be taken into account that apart from discontinuing the free distribution of kabasura kudineer and zinc tablets GCC also stopped imposing sticker restrictions on those streets announced as containment zones. The containment zones were manned by the police personnel last year and entry as well as exit was banned totally. This time around, there is no such complete ban on the movement of people.  It must be noted that in 2020 entire India was under lockdown to control the Covid-19 infection and it was easy to impose sticker restrictions. In 2021, the offices have been functioning and it would not be possible to impose sticker restrictions.
