CMDA extends validity of planning permission of projects

The validity of planning permission of projects that have got expired on 30th March is extended by 2 more years by the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority.
 
This move comes after the amendment of Section 50 of the Tamil Nadu Town and Country Planning Act, 1971 that increases the period of validity of planning permission by 2 years (increased from 3 to 5).
 
The CMDA member secretary C Vijayaraj Kumar said that the validity of all planning permissions that were issued with 3 years validity time and set to get expire by 30th March shall be extended by 2 more years.
 
All the applications seeking planning permission renewal that have come under CMDA or local body examination as of 30th March shall be considered.
 
2 months ago, a bill was passed in the state assembly. This was to modify the Tamil Nadu Town and Country Planning Act, 1971. The developers face trouble in working on large scale projects like IT parks, malls, SEZs etc because they cannot finish it within the given time of meagre three years.
 
With effect from 18th April, the amendment is live now. Developers state that this move will benefit all segments of realty.
