5 Ideal fruits for the summer season

As our country is located in the tropical high-heat zone, the onus is on us to withstand hot season for longer durations! Though we are to experience a high 48 Degrees Celsius heat level, we still prefer and expect the hotter season – Why? – Of course, because of the fruits available during the scorching summer season!

Mango

Mango is one fruit which can never be ignored – in fact, in a Tamil tradition, the 3 top fruits are listed as ‘Maa (mango), Palaa (jackfruit), and Vaazhai (banana)’! Note that mango is the 1st in this list! The folklore records hat mango was one of the favourite fruits of Lord Buddha.  The specialty of mango gets mentioned in the Indian scriptures of Vedas as well! There are many varieties of mango including Alphonsa, imampasand, malgoa, etc. Hey! Do not forget to taste the favourie mangos this season!

Watermelon

Watermelon is also known by another name – ‘the water fruit’! This is a fruit very high water content which helps bring down the body heat. Especially as it contains 94% water, it serves to be one of the ideal fruits to be taken in summer. Watermelon also contains Potassium, Vitamins A and C. Further, it has very low calories and so it is good for the heart and the eyes.

Melon

Just like watermelon, a melon also has rich water content. It is easily available throughout India and is good for the eyes. Melon contains beta-carotene which offers nutrition to the eyes. Being also rich in Vitamins A and C, it cures infections and also makes the skin glisten.

Mulberry

Mulberry has a good lot of medicinal properties being of a sweet and sour taste. The notable feature is that every part of this plant – right from the root to the fruit – can be used as medicines! It contains anti-oxidants and anthocyanin which have the property to cure cancer.

Blackberry

Blackberry has a unique taste! It is rich in anti-oxidant. It contains 1.41 milli of Iron, 1.5 milli of Calcium, and 18 millis of vitamin C.
