Buy monthly pass and travel many times in a day in Chennai Metro

Travelling in Chennai metro is a wonderful experience. Just recently CMRL allowed free travel in metro trains in Chennai and it grabbed many eyeballs. Most of us would like to travel many times in metro trains. The point here is CMRL has launched a monthly pass by which a person would be able to travel many times in a metro train in a single day.

For travelling many times in a day, the passengers must pay an amount of Rs 2500 plus an additional refundable amount of Rs 50 to get tourist card to travel many times in a day in the metro trains. As per an official it is clear that by this card a passenger would be able to go to any station at any time of the day for a period of one month.

To avoid waiting in the long queues, CMRL introduced smartcards is known. Now CMRL has gone another step in bringing this tourist card that could be used by any office goer or by any tourist to utilize these metro train any number of times. It has been a month since the last leg of 45 km phase-1 started to function and it is now said that this tourist card facility introduced by CMRL would be a boon for many commuters.

To make many people use metro trains in Chennai, CMRL is taking plenty of efforts now like introducing feeder services in 32 metro stations in Chennai etc. It is worth mentioning that now metro service has got average ridership of 90000 per day. Many who use metro trains regularly would have known that presently CMRL offers this tourist card for Rs 100 plus Rs 50 as refundable fee for unlimited rides for just a single day. CMRL also offers a trip card where the commuters are allowed for specific number of trips within specific number of days between two metro stations.

The point to be noted here is CMRL has also tested smart cards with MTCs electronic ticket machines in an effort to launch a common mobility card. This card would allow smooth transition of commuters across different modes of transport.
