In another 2 days, Krishna water to reach TN border

The failure of monsoon in Chennai has created water scarcity now. The positive news that has come out is Krishna water would reach the border of Tamil Nadu in a day or in two days. Important point to be noted is this Krishna water would reduce the water scarcity in Chennai city. On Wednesday, Andhra Pradesh government released nearly 900 cusecs of water into the Kandaleru- Poondi canal for the purpose of irrigation. This was confirmed by the sources.

Recently the chief minister of AP, Mr. Chandrababu Naidu grabbed many eyeballs when he announced that Krishna water would be released into the canal. He also revealed about the steps that were taken so that the water reached Chitoor district soon.

Officials belonging to Public Works Department or PWD shared their thoughts about the release of Krishna water. They spoke about how a portion of water discharged from Kandaleru reservoir in Andhra Pradesh would reach the canals inter-state border in Uthukottai in Thiruvallur district on Thursday evening or on Friday.

It must not be forgotten that last month a meeting took place with Central Water Commission and in that meeting there were discussions about water sharing and water allocation to the state of TN. The meeting saw the presence of representatives belonging to the 5 states like TN, Maharashtra, AP, Telangana and Karnataka. The important information is as per the inter-state agreement Chennai has to receive 4000 million cubic feet between the months of January and April. This would be under Krishna Water Supply project is known.
