It is well known to us that fair price ration shops sell essential items like rice, pulses, sugar and oil etc at cheap rates so that all people can afford them.
From the upcoming financial year onwards, the ration shops would also provide others such as millets, rye. Soon, steps would be taken for this. This was according to Mr.MRK. Paneerselvam
Yesterday, the welfare minister for farmers Mr. MRK. Paneerselvam had submitted TN Govt`s Agricultural Finance Report . He expressed his thoughts and spoke about how Rs 82 crores was allotted to increase the production of nutritious small grains. He added that to increase the production of small grains 5 new districts like Namakkal, Tiruppur, Coimbatore, Erode and Pudukottai would be added to the 20 districts that include 2 small grain zones that were announced in the last agricultural finance report.
It is learnt that to increase the use of small grains measures are being taken to provide foods to families in the Nilgiris and in the Dharmapuri districts. Action would be taken to provide small grains including rye and millets etc in the fair price ration shops. Subsidies would be provided to the farmer producer groups for setting up of processing centers for the value added selling of small grains.
