Posted on: 29/Jul/2022 10:00:35 AM
At Least till this weekend, Chennai and its suburbs would not receive rains. The reason cited for this sudden stopping of rains was due to the change in the direction of wind. It is now mentioned by some weathermen that the winds might reverse from easterlies to north westerlies by Sunday.

This might result in thunderstorms in Chennai and its suburbs from 1st of August. The Indian Meteorological Department or IMD has mentioned that for the next 2 days thunderstorms with light to moderate rains in some places in Chennai. The sky would be partly cloudy and maximum temperature would be around 35 degrees Celsius and minimum around 27 degrees Celsius. This would be because of low level circulation in TN.

Yesterday, Chennai was dry mostly and Nungambakkam recorded 33.4 degrees Celsius and Meenambakkam recorded 34 degrees Celsius. The upper air circulation has led to the prevalence of easteriles in TN now. This has been bringing rains in the interior places in the state and dry weather light rains in the coastal places like Chennai etc. This was as per some meteorologists. The day temperature has been kept in check due to the presence of easterlies.

From 31st July onwards, Chennai would receive rains as winds would change to north westerlies on 31st of July.
