Prospects for mild rain today (6th December) in the districts adjacent to the Western Ghat mountain range!

The Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre has informed that there are prospects for mild rain with lightning and thunder today (Monday, 6th December) in the districts adjacent to the Western Ghat mountainous range.

In this regard, the director of the Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre, n. Puviyarasan shared on Sunday (5th December):

Due to the cyclonic format prevailing in the upper layers of the atmosphere over the southern districts of Tamil Nadu State, there are prospects for mild rain with lightning and thunder today (Monday, 6th December) in a few places in the southern districts and the districts and the interior districts (Tirupur, Erode, Salem, Namakkal, Karur, and Dharmapuri).

7th December: 
There are prospects for mild to medium rain in a few places in the southern coastal districts. As regards other districts, a dry climate will prevail.

8th December: 
There are prospects for mild to medium rain with thunder in a few places in the coastal districts and Puducherry & Karaikkal. As regards other districts, there are prospects for mild rain in 1 or 2 places.

9th December: 
There are prospects for mild to medium rain with thunder in a few places in the coastal districts and the adjacent interior districts. As regards other districts, there are prospects for mild rain in 1 or 2 places.

As regards Chennai Metro City: The sky may remain generally cloudy. A maximum temperature of 32 Degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of 24 Degrees Celsius will be recorded.

Rainfall: 
As per the last 24 hours in the period from Sunday 8.30 AM (5th December) to 8.30 Am 0n Monday (6th December), the rainfall recorded in various places in mm: Erode district Kodumudi, Karur District Aanaipalayam-90, Coimbatore-70, Thoothukkudi District Ettayapuram-60, Thirunelveli District Nanguneri, Namakkal District Mohanur-Coimbatore District Chinnakkallaru-50.

Warning to fishermen: 
The deep depression zone prevailing over the central-west Bay of Bengal has weakened to a low-pressure zone and stabilized over the coastal Odisha. Due to this, high-speed winds at 40 kmph to 50 kmph and intermittently at 60 kmph in the northwest Bay of Bengal and the adjacent central-west Bay of Bengal and the coastal areas of Odisha. So, fishermen are warned NOT to venture into the sea in these areas today (Monday, 6th December)!
