Due to the phenomenon of thermal convection, there are prospects for mild to medium rain with lightning and thunder in a few places in the districts of Coimbatore, Erode, Tirupur, Salem, Dharmapuri, Vellore, Ranippettai, Villupuram and Kallakurichi.
For tomorrow (Tuesday, 19th October), there are prospects for mild rains in a few places in the southern districts of Pudhukkottai, Trichy, Delta Districts, and Karaikkal. There are prospects for mild to medium rain in the northern coastal districts and Puducherry.
Due to the cyclonic formats likely to be developed in the upper layers of the atmosphere over Sri Lanka and the adjacent southwest Bay of Bengal, there are prospects for heavy rains with lightning and thunder in a few places in the delta districts, Pudhukkottai, Sivagangai, Ramanathapuram, Thoothukkudi, Virudhunagar, Thirunelveli, Kallakurichi, Salem, Madurai, Trichy, Perambalur, Ariyalur and Cuddalore.
On 21st October, there are prospects for heavy rains with lightning and thunder in the delta districts, Pudhukkottai, Sivagangai, Madurai, Ramanathapuram, Karur, Trichy, and in Salem, Namakkal, Kallakurichi, Nilgiri, Coimbatore, Tirupur, and Karaikkal.
On 22nd October, there are prospects for very heavy rains in a few places in the districts of Salem, Namakkal, Dharmapuri, Kallakurichi, and prospects for heavy rains in a few places in the districts of Ariyalur, Perambalur, Trichy, Karur, Cuddalore, Villupuram, Kanyakumari, Nilgiri, and Coimbatore.
As regards the Chennai Metro City, the sky will be partly cloudy for the next 48 hours and there are prospects of mild rain in a few parts of the city.
As strong high-speed winds at the rate of 40 to 50 kmph are likely to blow in the coastal Kerala, Lakhdivs and the southeast Arabian Sea, fishermen are warned NOT to venture into the sea!
