Heat waves to cause huge discomfort for Chennaites in the next 2 days

For the last few days, the residents belonging to Chennai and some parts of TN have been finding it difficult with high temperatures. Now, the heat wave conditions would prevail for the next 2 days also and the temperature would increase by 1 or 2 degrees Celsius in Chennai plus in certain districts.

On the other side, those districts that are in close proximity to Western Ghats might receive thunderstorms plus moderate rains.

Director, Area Cyclone Warning Centre, RMC has confirmed that for the next 2 days the maximum temperatures is likely to rise by 2 to 3 degrees in Chennai, Madurai, Trichy, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Vellore, Tirupattur, Ranipet, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Chengalpet, Villupuram and Thiruvannamalai districts belonging to Tamil Nadu. By next week, the temperature might come down. Isolated places over Western Ghats district would receive thunderstorms with moderate rains. In the next 2days, there will be light rain in the south coastal districts in TN.

In Chennai, yesterday, 30th May, the maximum temperature recorded at Meenambakkam (minimum temperature of 28.9 degrees Celsius) and Nungambakkam (minimum temperature was 29.1 degrees Celsius) was 40.1 and 40 degrees Celsius respectively. District of Salem received 4cm of rain and districts belonging to Coimbatore and Kanniyakumari received 2cm of rain each.
