Intermittent rains to bring relief for Chennai residents soon

For the last few days, Chennai residents have been sweating profusely and finding it difficult due to the scorching heat and humidity. The heat has been such that even staying inside the houses has been difficult.

Soon, the residents could feel happy because next week coastal TN including Chennai might receive intermittent rains.

Information got is on Friday places in Chennai like Nungambakkam and Meenambakkam recorded 37.9 degree Celsius and 30 degree Celsius respectively. These temperatures recorded were 0.1 degrees and 1.1 degrees above the normal. Nungambakkam had humidity of 67 percent whereas Meenambakkam had humidity of 60 percent.

According to Mr. Puviarasan, director of Area Cyclone Warning Centre, IMD, Chennai, the presence of string south-easterly winds would make the temperatures to be similar for the next few days. He added that there would not be any rainfall till 5th June. He hinted about the presence of a system in Arabian Sea and said that it must end.

For the next 48 hours in Chennai city, the sky condition is likely to be partly cloudy and the maximum and minimum temperatures would be 37 degrees and 29 degrees. There would be commencement of south-east monsoon and it would progress over other regions of India. This might lead to thunderstorms in Chennai city in the next week. This was according to some weather bloggers.

It has been predicted by IMD that southwest would commence around 1st June in Kerala and this would likely change the wind pattern to westerly for TN including coastal regions.
