Hot and unpleasant days in Chennai

Posted on: 20/Aug/2019 10:16:21 AM
In the last weekend, the temperature in the city of Chennai was cool and residents got some relief is known. Information is the coming days might not be as pleasant and cool like the last weekend. There would be rains in the evenings and in the night time in Chennai city.

On Monday, 19th August, it was predicted by the meteorological department that the condition of the sky is likely to be cloudy and there would be light to moderate rains/thundershowers in some places in the evening or in the night. Upper air circulation has been responsible for the Chennai city getting overnight rains and cloudy days. The point is this would change as the upper air circulation is not there now.

According to an official belonging to the meteorological department it is very clear that Chennai would get only convective rains that would be triggered by the high day temperatures. The maximum temperature and minimum temperature on Tuesday is likely to be around 34 degrees Celsius and 26 degrees Celsius. This was as per the forecast made for Tuesday.

It must be noted that on Monday Meenambakkam recorded maximum of 32 degrees Celsius and Nungambakkam recorded a maximum of 34.7 degrees Celsius. Chennai city based private weather blogger, Mr. Pradeep John had mentioned in a post that upper air circulation gone, clear skies, fish scales seen, bright skies and sunshine etc. He also mentioned that Chennai is back to thunderstorms in the evenings and in the night. He added that the rains might not be widespread.

On Monday, the temperature during the day time was higher when compared to the day time temperatures on Sunday. Mercury level touched around 35 degree Celsius near 1:30 pm and began to dip for rest of the day.

It is important to note that in the previous day the temperature was mostly below 30 degrees Celsius and mercury crossed 30 degrees Celsius around 4:30 pm. Southwest monsoon effect has been the factor that was responsible for Chennai and its suburbs receiving rain in the evenings and in the night time for few days in the month of August.
