Tamil Nadu Weather Update: Northeast Monsoon Weakens, Light to Moderate Rain Likely Till December 14
As the intensity of the Northeast Monsoon has slightly decreased, dry weather conditions are prevailing across most parts of Tamil Nadu. Due to the cold easterly winds, morning mist and cooler temperatures have started to appear in several regions, bringing a noticeable chill to the atmosphere.
However, fresh meteorological developments indicate a possible return of rainfall. A cyclonic circulation positioned over the northwest Bay of Bengal has created favorable conditions for rain. In addition, variations in easterly wind speed are also supporting rain formation.
Rain Forecast Till December 14
According to weather officials, light to moderate rainfall is likely at one or two places across Tamil Nadu till December 14.
In Chennai, the sky is expected to remain generally cloudy today, and light rain is likely in a few localities across the city and suburbs.
Strong Wind Warning Along Coastal Regions
Due to the prevailing weather system, cyclonic winds with speeds up to 55 kmph are expected today and tomorrow over:
- Tamil Nadu coastal areas
- Gulf of Mannar
- Kanyakumari Sea
Additionally, on December 11 and 12, similar high-speed cyclonic winds up to 55 kmph are likely over:
- South Tamil Nadu coastal regions
- Gulf of Mannar
- Kanyakumari Sea
Strong winds of the same intensity are also expected over the southwest Bay of Bengal today and tomorrow.
