Four IAS Officers Appointed as Special Observers for Final Voter List Revision in Tamil Nadu

As the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list in Tamil Nadu reaches its final stage, the Election Commission of India has appointed four IAS officers as Special Observers to closely monitor the crucial verification process across the state.

These officers will supervise key activities such as enumeration form verification, consideration of claims and objections, and quality checks before the release of the final electoral roll. The Election Commission stated that the objective is to ensure that no eligible voter is left out and no ineligible person is included in the final list.

Districts Covered by Special Observers

- Raman Kumar, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Cooperation - Tiruvallur, Chennai, Chengalpattu, Kanchipuram, Ranipet, Vellore, Tirupattur, Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram, Kallakurichi.

- Kuldeep Narayan, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs - Salem, Namakkal, Erode, Tiruppur, Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Dindigul, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri.

- Neeraj Karwal, Managing Director, India Trade Promotion Organisation - Tiruchirappalli, Karur, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, Thanjavur.

- Vijay Nehra, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare – Pudukkottai, Sivagangai, Madurai, Theni, Virudhunagar, Ramanathapuram, Thoothukudi, Tenkasi, Tirunelveli, Kanniyakumari.

99.27% Enumeration Forms Uploaded in Tamil Nadu

The Election Commission reported that as of December 8, 6,36,44,038 enumeration forms (99.27%) have been uploaded across the state. Out of a total of 6,41,14,587 voters, forms have been distributed to 6,40,59,971 voters so far.

The SIR process began on November 4, with the involvement of 68,470 Booth Level Officers (BLOs). With the last date for submitting forms set for December 11, authorities are intensifying the collection, uploading, and verification of remaining forms.

Draft Voter List on December 16

The draft electoral roll will be published on December 16, after which citizens who are left out can apply for inclusion and submit correction requests through the claims and objections process.
