Prospects for heavy rain in 6 districts in Tamil Nadu today - 1st June!

The Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre has informed that there are prospects of heavy rain in six districts in Tamil Nadu today (Thursday, 1st June).

In a notification released by the Director of the Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre, Pa. Senthamaraikkannan, it is mentioned:

"Due to the phenomenon of thermal convection prevailing in the lower layers of the atmosphere and a cyclonic formation over Tamil Nadu areas, there are prospects of heavy rain today (Thursday, 1st June) and tomorrow (Friday, 2nd June) in a few places in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

There are also prospects of mild to moderate rain with lightning and thunder on the 3rd and 4th of June.

The sky will remain somewhat cloudy in the Chennai Metro City and its suburbs for the next 48 hours. There are prospects of mild rain in one or two places in the city.

The maximum temperature will be 100 degrees Fahrenheit, and the minimum temperature will be 82 degrees Fahrenheit.

As of 8:30 AM yesterday (Wednesday, 31st May), the maximum rainfall recorded in centimeters in some places was as follows: Cuddalore District Vembur – 9, Kattumayilur – 8, Nilgiri District Lower Kothagiri Estate, Kanyakumari District Pechipparai – 7 each, and Thiruvannamalai Kalasavakkam – 6.

Due to high-speed winds at 45-55 kmph and intermittently at 65 kmph across the south Tamil Nadu coastal areas, Bay of Mannar, and the adjacent Kanyakumari Ocean and the southwest Bay of Bengal adjacent to the Bay of Bengal, fishermen are warned NOT TO venture into the sea for fishing in these areas!"
