Greater Chennai Corporation: 2300 unauthorized drain water connections delinked!

In a notification released by the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC), it is mentioned:
The task of desalting of the drain water pipes by the Department of the Rainwater drainage system so that rainwater drains off without any blockades. The old faulty pipelines are also being replaced.
However, it was established that drain water lines have been linked to unauthorized work. As such, both the residents and organizations who link these unauthorized drain connections have been identified and charged with penalties.
On this basis, in a task was undertaken in the areas under the jurisdiction of the Greater Chennai Corporation from 18th February until 3rd March. After the above survey and analysis, it was established that there were 2385 unauthorized linkages and these were disconnected. The citizens/organizations who indulged in this violation were charged with a penalty of Rs. 569200/-.
So, the citizens are appealing to ensure PREVENT the LINKING OF SEWER DRAINWATER PIPES WITH RAINWATER DRAIN PIPELINES!
IF THIS IS VIOLATED, THE CONNECTED PIPELINE WILL BE DISCONNECTED AND A PENALTY WILL BE CHARGED!
