Heavier rains in Mylapore and Sholinganallur in Chennai Metro City!

The cyclone Nivar, formed over the Bay of Bengal and being extremely severe, crossed the coast between Tamil Nadu and Puducherry from yesterday night (Wednesday, 25th November) 11.30 PM to this morning (Thursday, 26th November) 2.30 AM.
Subsequently, it lost its intensity and is presently drifting towards north/northwest. It has been estimated this wi continue losing its intensity in the subsequent 6 hours.
With the forewarning issued regarding the heavy rains, heavy rains have been recorded in the coastal areas and mid rains recorded in other areas.
The Greater Chennai Corporation (CC) has released the statistics on the rainfalls recorded in the last 24 hours.
Maximum rainfall of 263.50 mm has been recorded in Mylapore and a rainfall of 220 mm have been recorded in Sholinganallur. This has been observed to be the maximum rainfall recorded in 24 hours!
Ambattur (Chennai Metro City) recorded rainfall of 150 mm while Guindy recorded a rainfall of 139 and in Mambalam, the rainfall recorded was 135 mm.
The rainfall during this period in the Chennai Metro City has been 1497 mm. However, the average rainfall is 136.15 mm!
