11 hour power cut in parts of Sholinganallur in Chennai

Sholinganallur in Chennai is making sensational news now. On Tuesday there was scheduled power cut in this place. It is now brought out that this scheduled power cut lasted for 11 hours of time and had drained power back up systems of charge. This had angered many residents now.
For carrying out maintenance works in places such as Iyappanthangal, Porur, Sholinganallur and Menambedu, a power shutdown was announced on Tuesday from 9 am to 4 pm in the evening. It is now said that in Sholinganallur the power was cut at 8 am in the morning and was restored only at 7 pm in the evening.
Semmenchery based resident expressed her unhappiness regarding this 11 hour power cut and spoke about how a text message was received on Sunday and it informed about the scheduled power cut on Tuesday. She added that the power went off hour earlier and came back three hours after the scheduled time. Inspite of the preparations for the scheduled power cut, residents found it very difficult due to the long delay and extreme heat.
It must be taken into account that some residents even dialled local EB to get the latest updates but could not get any help. A resident belonging to Sholinganallur spoke about how the EB officials either did not respond to the calls or gave sketchy information. There was a power outage at 8 pm again even after the power was restored at 7 pm.
Work on the transmission power line delayed the restoration of power supply and this was the reason given by an engineer belonging to Tangedco. He then highlighted that by 6 pm many areas got back the power supply and for the remaining areas it took another one hour. As per the residents belonging to Porur and Menambedu, there was no prolonged power outage. A resident of Kallikuppam spoke about how the power was back by 3 pm itself.
