These days we often hear news about many elderly people gone missing from their houses etc. Did you ever think about the reason?

It is worthy to note that Alzheimer’s disease is a type of dementia in which the persons lose their cognitive abilities. These persons affected by this issue do not have the ability to remember things and go out of their homes etc. It is a neurodegenerative disease that begins slowly but increases over the period of time. The initial symptom of Alzheimer’s disease is the difficulties in remembering the recent events. In the long run there are many symptoms such as problems with language, disorientation mood swings, loss of motivation, behavioural issues etc. It is well known that our nervous system is made up of neurons or nerve cells and these cells are responsible for transmitting information through our body to various organs. In those persons affected by Alzheimer’s disease, functioning of nerve cells is stopped and the memory of the person gets affected.

Reasons for Alzheimer’s disease:

It is revealed that this disease could be due to genetic, environmental and lifestyle changes. It is important to note that less than 5% of time, Alzheimer’s disease is due to specific genetic changes.

How to avoid Alzheimer’s disease:

There are few tips that must be followed so that this disease could be avoided. 

By doing exercises:

This is one important way to avoid getting affected by Alzheimer’s disease. Physical activity is important and it would help in boosting the blood supply. For healthy mind and body it is essential that a person must do atleast 30 minutes of aerobic exercises three or four times a week.

Enough sleep is must:

Our body needs rest to perform well. Similarly our brain also needs good rest to function efficiently. It must be noted that to reduce getting affected by Alzheimer’s disease, we must have good sound sleep for 7 to 8 hours in a day.

Intake of Mediterranean diet:

It is important to consume Mediterranean diet that includes fruits, vegetables, whole grains, olive oil etc. The studies have proved that intake of these food could avoid or slow down the progression of Alzheimer’s disease. Including brain enhancers like avocado, broccoli, green leafy vegetables, salmon fishes having omega-3 fatty acids etc are also beneficial.

Improving the cognitive skill:

Our brain could be kept young and active by means of cognitive function enhancing activities and by socialising with others. By this our thinking ability is improved. Brain is maintained in constant active state.

Avoid sugary items:

There are certain sugary foods and refined carbohydrates like white flour, white rice and paste etc and these must be avoided as these cause inflammation of our brain.

Eating home based foods:

It is said that by eating home cooked food it is sure that we would consume fresh wholesome meals high in brain healthy nutrients and low in sugar, salt, unhealthy fats and additives etc.

Avoid bebeing overweight:

The studies have shown that those persons who are overweight in their middle lives developed Alzheimer’s disease later on during their old age.
