TNPSC announces Group-2 and Group-2A Examinations for 5400 vacant posts!

The announcement was released by Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) yesterday (Wednesday, 23rd February) for filling up over 5400 various vacant posts including Registrars.

Interested candidates may apply ONLINE for writing the Group-2 Examinations on the official website of TNPSC: www.tnpsc.gov.in Please note that the last date for applying is 23rd March.

The posts in Group-2 and Group-2A have been categorised as those without interviews or interviews.

Group-2 examinations have 3 stages: Preliminary examinations, Main Examination and the interview.

In the announcement regarding Group-2 and Group-2A examinations, it is notified that 116 posts are having an interview.

A total of 116 posts are there including Junior Employment Officer, Prison Department Good Conduct Officer, Labour Department Assistant Researcher, Registrar of the Registration Department, Special Assistants in the Department of corruption Prevention and Monitoring, Special Section Assistants in the  Department of Crime Investigation Special Section in the Office of the Police Commissioner,  In this, 59 new posts have been created for Special Section Assistants and have been included in Group-2  with selection by interview.

Posts WITHOUT INTERVIEW: There are posts without interviews in the Group-2 and Group-2A categories. In this, candidates need to write the preliminary and the Main Examinations.  Examinations are to be conducted for 297 posts including City Corporation Commissioner, Assistant Section Officer in the Chief Secretariat, Senior Analyst in the Cooperative Association, Handloom Analyst, Revenue Administration Officer, and Office Assistant.

Group-2 Examinations are being conducted for filling up a total of 55413 posts including those with interviews as well as those without interviews.

The last date for applying for the Preliminary examination is 23rd March. The examinations will be conducted on 21st May from 9.30 AM to 12.30 PM. Once the results of the preliminary examinations are announced, the details of the date and time for the Main Examination will be announced shortly.

Implementation of ‘Vanniyar quota’

‘Vanniyar quota’ has been implemented for the first time in the Group-2 category examinations which is one of the largest. However, TNPSC has mentioned that this quota will be subject to the final order from the High Court. The details:

Special quota rules will apply to the Group-2 examinations.  The allocation for the vacant posts will be announced d later. The State Government of Tamil Nadu has filed a petition regarding the reservation quota. As such, the quota will be as per the final order from the High Court.
