Posted on: 21/Sep/2018 9:36:00 AM
Muharram is one of the spiritually significant month for Muslims, Dhul Qadah, Dhul-Hijjah and Rajab being the other three. According to the Islamic calendar the tenth day of Ashoora is most significant among all the days of the sacred month.

According to the reports in al-Muslim and al-Bukhari the Prophet Moses observed a fast dedicated as a token of gratitude to God. He did the fasting for thanking the almighty who saved Israelites from the tyranny of the Egyptian pharaohs.

Shia Muslims marks the birth of Muharram as the mourning period for the loss of Hazrat Husain and his family and followers who were all killed by the forces of Umayyad ruler Yazeed Ibn Muawiyah. The killing in the Battle of Karbala (A.D.680) took place for the reason of Hazrat refusing Yazeed as Caliph.

Different Muslim sections celebrate the month and the first day for various reasons purified for the sole reason of ejecting the evil forces and finding goodness. The common theme of Prophet Muhammad is to spread peace and goodness in terms of love and liberty. The path of peace eradicating the evil spiritual energies away from our soul and body starts with the first day of sacred month, Muharram.
