Tamil Nadu SETC Adds 8 New Volvo Multi-Axle Luxury Buses to Fleet by December 2025

The Tamil Nadu State Express Transport Corporation (SETC) has added eight new Volvo multi-axle luxury buses to its Chennai fleet. These modern buses will begin service by December 2025, offering passengers premium comfort and safety.
As part of its 2025–2026 upgrade plan, SETC is procuring 130 new buses built with advanced technology - including 110 non-AC seater and sleeper coaches and 20 Volvo multi-axle luxury models.
Each Volvo bus, priced at ₹1.75 crore, features 51 semi-sleeper seats, individual charging ports, reading lights, fire safety systems, and adjustable suspension for easy access. This initiative aims to modernize Tamil Nadu’s public transport system and bring it on par with private omni bus services.
