Be careful if you drink beetroot juice in excess as it could lead to these health issues!!

Many of us these days drink beetroot juice as it is good for our health.

By drinking this juice, there would be positive effects on the blood, improving red blood cell production, increasing haemoglobin levels etc.  Beetroot is consumed either as juice or as a vegetable etc. Not many of us would know that drinking beetroot juice in excess could be harmful for our health.

There are several health issues we could get when we drink beetroot juice in excess amounts. These are

Beeturia issue:
By drinking beetroot juice in excess, we could get beeturia or discolouration of urine. It must be noted that the pigments in beet are responsible for urine discolouration.

More risk of getting kidney stones:
The oxalates present in the beetroot juice could lead to the formation of kidney stones in us. Truth is that there are more chances of getting kidney stones when we consume more amounts of oxalates.

Lowers BP too much:
Those who are taking medicine for their low BP issue must avoid drinking excess quantities of this juice as it could reduce their BP further. Please be careful.

Chances of anaphylaxis:
Sometimes, our body would become hypersensitive to the allergens and this could lead to anaphylaxis issue or acute allergy. By drinking excess beetroot juice, a person might get allergic reactions like throat allergy, bronchospasm etc.

Stomach upset:
We could get abdominal cramps when we drink excess beetroot juice. This is mainly due to the presence of nitrates in this juice.

Risk during pregnancy:
It is learnt that pregnant women who consume beetroot juice in excess could get headache, dizziness, blue-gray skin around mouth, lips etc.

Liver issues:
Liver is an important organ in us and any issue with the liver could lead to death also. There would be accumulation of metal ions when we drink this juice in large amounts. This would harm the liver in the long run.

Might lead to calcium deficiency:
When we drink beetroot juice in large amounts, we might get calcium deficiency also. Those women with low calcium levels would have to avoid drinking too much of this juice.
