We could get gout when the uric acid levels in us become high. It is known that gout is a common form of arthritis where the person would have pain or tenderness in his or her joints like toes and ankles etc. The person with gout would also have swollen joints and reddish discolouration of the skin around the joint too. Hence, it is necessary that we must keep our uric acid levels in control.

Purines when broken down would lead to production of a chemical called uric acid. By natural breakdown of cells, compounds would enter the blood streams and they are called purines. Normally, a uric acid test is performed to diagnose the levels of uric acid in the body. It must be noted that some persons might not be able to digest purine rich foods like meat, sardines, beer etc and due to this there would be rise in the uric acid levels. 

Not only gout, high uric acid levels in us could also result in the formation of kidney stones also. Those with kidney stones in them would experience severe back pain, frequent urination, nausea, vomiting etc.

Cashews intake:
Low in purines and highly nutritious, intake of cashews would reduce bad cholesterol and boost good cholesterol in us. It is necessary that our body needs certain minerals and vitamins for functioning and cashews would provide these minerals and vitamins.

Walnuts intake:
It would be possible to manage uric acid levels in us by consuming walnuts. They are rich in omega-3 fatty acids plus they have anti-inflammatory properties in them. Those persons with high levels of uric acid in them can eat walnuts that would provide essential nutrients.

Almonds intake:
Low in purines, almonds when consumed could lower the uric acid levels in us effectively. They also have magnesium, manganese and vitamin E etc and are highly beneficial for health. The antioxidants present in almond skin would fight free radicals.

Flaxseeds intake:
It is worthy to mention that flaxseeds are rich in essential fatty acids which our body cannot produce on its own. The anti-inflammatory effect of flaxseeds would reduce the pain due to high uric acid levels.

Brazil nuts intake:
The uric acid levels in us would be kept under control when we consume Brazil Nuts rich in fibre content. Those with gout would be able to manage their pain due to gout when they consume Brazil nuts.

Other low purine foods to control uric acid levels:
Various foods that can be consumed to manage uric acid levels are green tea, apple cider vinegar of ACV, Vitamin C rich foods like bell peppers, Brussel sprouts, oranges etc. Fibre rich foods like whole grains, green leafy vegetables, broccoli, oats etc. Apart from these, a person can also consume cherries, low fat dairy products, fresh vegetable juices, olive oil, omega-3 fatty acid rich foods etc. We could regulate uric acid in us by drinking lots of water throughout the day.
