Coronavirus pandemic has spread to every nook and corners of the world in the last 2 years. There is now fear in the minds of the people regarding the fourth Coronavirus wave that might be making its presence felt in the month of June. The summer has been scorching with high temperatures recorded in the late March itself. Truth is that in north India the temperatures have touched 40 degrees Celsius already. Many have been already affected with diarrhoea issues now in the high summer temperatures. It is well known that in the summer season many would get affected by several health issues.

Not many of us would be aware of the presence of direct relation that exists between summer and diarrhoeal infections. After getting exposed to the scorching sun in the summer season, the majority of us consume cool drinks such as soft drinks, cold water etc. This would be responsible for the increase in the diarrhoeal cases.

It is true that many of us do not know about the side effects of consuming cold water and chilled drinks etc in the summer. This was pointed out by Dr. Pradeep Mukherjee. There would be imbalance created in the body when we drink cold water, cold drinks etc. This could result in the onset of symptoms of fever or flu etc.

It is noteworthy that our digestive system slows down in the summer season and this could lead to digestive based health issues in us leading to diarrhoeal infections. Our digestive balance would get disturbed when we consume spicy and stale foods and we must be very careful. A person with diarrhoeal infection would have symptoms like abdominal pain, bloating, mild to moderate increase in body temperatures etc.

In the summer season, it is advised to stay indoors but this would not be possible always. Therefore, a person must follow certain tips to be safe from the scorching sun.

In the summer season, we must consume healthy but less spicy foods only. It is essential to keep the body hydrated by drinking lots of water throughout the day. Make sure that after getting exposed to the sun directly avoid consuming cold drinks or cold water etc. By using sunglasses and scarves etc, we can protect ourselves from harsh sun rays. It is important to note that during the summer season we must wear light coloured cotton clothes. Lastly, we must avoid going out in the sun on an empty stomach.
