In women, apart from ovarian cancer and breast cancer, thyroid cancer is also increasing these days. In the cells of the thyroid glands, thyroid cancer develops slowly and in the early stages it is impossible to detect this thyroid cancer.

It is worthy to mention here that a person with thyroid cancer could be treated only if he or she is aware of the symptoms of thyroid cancer that occurs in them. Various factors that could lead to thyroid cancer in us are exposure to radiation at young age, having enlarged thyroid gland, family history etc.  Thyroid cancer is of four type namely papillary thyroid cancer, follicular thyroid cancer, medullary thyroid cancer and anaplastic thyroid cancer. Thyroid cancer diagnosis includes ultrasound and fine needle aspiration etc.

Please be aware of these various symptoms of thyroid cancer.

Change in voice:

When a person notices change in his or her voice then it must not be ignored. Nerve that controls the vocal cord would get damaged by cancer cells and this would make the voice hoarse.

Difficulty in swallowing, eating etc:

Those with thyroid cancer would find it difficult to swallow and breathe etc. This is mainly due to the growth of cancerous cells in the neck. Some people would find it difficult to eat and talk also.

Getting blood while coughing:

It is important to note that persons with thyroid cancer would cough up blood. This is due to the fact that the thyroid gland is closely associated with trachea and esophagus.

 Lump at the base of neck:

This is also one important symptom of thyroid cancer that must be given importance. During physical examination of persons with thyroid cancer r, a lump might be felt at the base of the neck. Though the lump might not give pain but it is not normal.

Ear pain:

Pain in the ears could also be due to the presence of a tumor or lump in the thyroid gland. Sensations in the nerves that run down the neck could result in ear pain.

Breathing issues or shortness of breath:

Breathing difficulty is witnessed in those having thyroid cancer. Truth is that for no specific reason these persons would feel out of breath.

Treatment for thyroid cancer:

The most widely used treatment for thyroid cancer is surgery done on the patients. It must be noted that lobectomy or removal of the lobe where thyroid cancer is found is done.
