One of the important localities in south Chennai is Velachery.

Many interior roads have been damaged due to pipe laying and due to underground electricity cables in Velachery. Now, GCC has begun repairing these roads. It is now said that before the elections, more than 100 roads would be repaired by the GCC.

The utility agencies have dug up several roads in Velachery and the residents have been facing many issues is well known. The point is that the civic body has taken up the repairing work here from Monday.

Various streets in Velachery like Bala Murugan Nagar, Annai Indira Nagar, Bethel Avenue, Sarathy Nagar 5TH Street etc are being repaired now. It was highlighted by a senior officer belonging to Adyar zone of GCC that the road work that has been progressing at slow pace would be speeded up and would be finished before the end of April. It must be noted that the CMWSSB has taken up works in the streets that had been without piped water supply and underground drainage connection.

The CMWSSB has completed their work and shifting of the overhead power cables has been in progress. This was according to the officials belonging to GCC. A resident of Bethel Avenue expressed his feelings. He spoke about how the water board has dug up many streets for installing water and sewage pipelines and how this has been causing issues for the residents here especially during the NE monsoon. It is now said that the GCC must finish their work as fast as possible.
