Important information regarding Acute Pancreatitis - Causes, symptoms etc

Sometimes, our pancreas would get swollen and it might lead to serious issues if it is not treated. This condition is termed as pancreatitis. The persons with this issue would have severe pain in their upper abdomen and the pain would go to the back also.

It is well known that pancreas is a flat and long gland that lies in the abdomen behind the stomach. The major work of pancreas is to secrete enzymes that get released into the small intestine and help in digestion.

The surprising piece of information is men are more likely to be affected with pancreatitis when compared to women. It is revealed that acute pancreatitis occurs when the gallstone comes out of the gallbladder and settles in the bile duct. It would then block the opening of the bile duct and the pancreatic duct.

Direct and indirect causes of pancreatitis:
Sudden immune system attack on the pancreas would lead to pancreatitis issue also and this is an example of direct cause for this health issue. Other examples are damage to pancreas or gallbladder due to surgery and presence of excess fat in blood etc

Various indirect causes for pancreatitis are consumption of alcohol, cystic fibrosis issues, viral infections like mumps, certain medications having oestrogen, certain antibiotics etc.

Various symptoms of acute pancreatitis are

Prolonged pain in the abdomen:
Pain in the upper part of abdomen is very common in those with pancreatitis issues. It must be noted that with gallstones the pain would begin suddenly and would reach the maximum within a few minutes of time.

Tendency to vomit:
Truth is that sometimes coughing would also lead to severe pain. By sitting erect and leaning forward the person would be able to get some relief from the pain. Persons with pancreatitis issue would have the tendency to vomit also.

Fluctuating body temperature:
Those with this issue would have a normal body temperature at first but suddenly the temperature would increase.

Decrease in BP:
The persons with acute pancreatitis would experience a decrease in their blood pressure or BP when he or she stands.  They might faint also sometimes.

Foods to eat and avoid:
Various foods that can be consumed by those with pancreatitis are fruits and vegetables, beans, lean meats, lentils etc. Foods to avoid are breads with high fat content, alcohol, sugary items like cakes, desserts etc. i it is important that a person with this issue must avoid foods like sodas, processed or frozen foods etc too.
