Minister Sengottaiyan: No decision yet on schools reopening!

Posted on: 30/May/2020 1:31:47 PM
The Tamil Nadu State Government Minister for School Education, Sengottaiyan said that so far, no decision has been taken on reopening schools.

The Minister distributed relief items for the auto drivers at Gopichettypalayam in Erode District yesterday (Friday, 29th May). After the event, the minister had a session with the press reporters. He shared:

“The Health Department personnel will be deployed in all the 10th and 12th Public Examination Centres.  All the protective arrangements suggested by the team of medical experts will be set up in all public examination centres. As regards reopening of schools in Tamil Nadu, NO DECISION HAS BEEN TAKEN SO FAR. In fact, we have not even reviewed it!

Regarding conducting online classes, I only commented against any fees charged for the online classes and not against conducting online classes! It is obvious that at the raging coronavirus situation, CLASSES CAN BE CONDUCTED ONLINE ONLY!

As the CBSE schools are under the central government jurisdiction, and as the private sector are conducting the online classes, it is their decision.

As compared to the normal occasions, THE NUMBER OF PUBLIC EXAMINATION CENTRES HAS TRIPLED!

As regards the postponement of the Public Examination for the 10th Standard, different opinions is given by various people! However, it is not possible to predict when the raging coronavirus will end! The state government will offer full protection to the students. The lives of the students are far more valuable than our lives – the lives of the officials and authorities!

The examination dates were decided only after a thorough review meeting presided by the Chief Minister with all departments. A condition has been created which will permit the students to write their public examination in their respective schools!”
