Rain in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka likely during the next 24 hours

During the last 24 hours, Tamil Nadu and Kerala experienced dry and warm weather conditions over most places. However, many parts of South Interior Karnataka experienced light rainfall activity.
At present the state of Karnataka is rain deficient by 6% and Tamil Nadu by 12%.Meanwhile, the state of Kerala exceeds the normal rainfall levels by 26%.
Presently, a cyclonic circulation lies over Lakshadweep and adjoining parts of Kerala at upper tropospheric levels. An upper air trough is also extending from northern parts of Maharashtra to Konkan Coast. Apart from these two systems, an upper air trough is seen persisting over West-central Bay of Bengal at mid and upper tropospheric levels.
In the coming hours, these systems will be transforming to cyclonic systems. Hence, dry weather conditions which were experienced over the states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka region will experience change as moderate rain and thundershower activity will be experienced over many places of central and eastern parts of Tamil Nadu, Kerala and South Interior Karnataka during the next 24 to 36 hours.
Thereafter in the states of Kerala and Tamil Nadu rain activity is likely to decrease marginally. However, regions of South Interior Karnataka will experience moderate to heavy rains after 24 to 36 hours.
