Several reasons are cited for abortions. However, the ill-health of the pregnant mother and her inability to have the stamina to sustain pregnancy are the most important reasons.

  • If there is no proper growth of the foetus in the womb, there is a risk of abortion.
  • If the foetus does not remain the womb or if the mouth of the womb is in ‘open’ condition, there are chances of abortion. It is highly advisable to consult a gynaecologist under these conditions.
  • If the foetus is not fully formed, abortion will happen automatically. Similarly, if the position of the womb is not proper, it becomes impossible to avert abortion.
  • The possibility of abortion increases if there are 2 wombs. Also, if there are fibroid cycts in the womb, the chances of abortion are more.
  • The medication taken for certain specific diseases increase the chances of abortion.
  • With the current fashionable lifestyle, women take to smoking, drinking alcohol, and chewing tobacco. These habits are open invitation for abortion.

Even psychological disorders may lead to abortion.

Hence, it is better for the women in early pregnancy to remain safe & protected during the first 3 months of pregnancy. It is better to avoid travelling.

  • As it is established that the chances of abortion are more during the first 3 months of pregnancy, it is also advisable not to lift heavier things. It is also better to avoid unnecessary strain. One should remain mentally relaxed. Do not undertake any tiresome work. Good rest and deep sleep are very essential!
  • Nutritiously rich food is essential. The patients suffering from high blood pressure or diabetes must keep them under strict control. Care should be taken not to be affected by any illnesses. If ill, it is recommendnded that there should be immediate consultation with the doctor and take the prescribed medication. Avoid self-treatment at all costs!

If the pregnant women follow these steps carefully, it is certainly possible to avoid abortion.
