The summer vacation is now coming to a close for the school students and the students are slowly preparing for the schools to reopen in june.

The news is that the school education department is planning to postpone the reopening of the schools due to the extreme summer heat.

It is known that the schools would reopen  for the students of classes 1 to 5 on 5th of June and for the students of classes 6 to 9 on 1st of June. There were many demands from various political parties to postpone the schools reopening due to the summer heat.

A consultation meeting took place online yesterday regarding the reopening of the schools and  the preparatory works etc and the meeting took place under the leadership of the school education minister Mr. Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi .

Other important persons who took part in the online meeting were school education secretary Kakarla Usha, departmental directors and district primary education officers etc. The school education minister spoke about how more attention must be given to increase the student enrollment in the government schools in the state.

He hinted that after the reopening of the schools the free welfare materials etc must be made available for the students immediately. It must be noted that from the coming academic year Tamil would be made compulsory for the students studying up to class 9. The school education minister mentioned that there must be close monitoring of the  private schools to ensure that these schools teach Tamil language compulsorily. Enough Tamil language teachers must be appointed also.

The online meeting also witnessed the discussions about the postponement of the schools. As there is a severe heat wave in many districts in TN, the primary education authorities wanted to postpone the reopening of the schools. The reopening of the schools would be postponed for a week now.
