According to the sources it has been confirmed that about 15% of the work or 14.4kms have been completed on the Chennai-Bengaluru expressway on the TN side till now. This stretch of 96kms is known.

Within the next 15 to 16 months, the entire work would be completed and this was mentioned by some officers belonging to NHAI or National Highways Authority of India.

During the rainy season, the main issue was getting earth and that was due to the fact that the ponds and lakes were full of water. Now, the rains have stopped and water has started to recede and as a result earth could be sourced from the water bodies. For the project in TamilNadu, a total of 833.91 hectares of land would be needed. It must be noted that 95% of land has already been acquired and the remaining land acquisition also would be carried out soon.  On the TN side, the work has been divided into 4 packages.

The 4 packages are 24km between Gudipala and Walajapet, 24.5km between Walajapet and Arakkonam,25.5km between Arakkonam and Kancheepuram and 32.1km between Kancheepuram and Sriperumbudur. The officer brought out that out of these more than 10km was on the Andhra Pradesh side. The project would have toll plazas, 54 bridges, 13 subways etc on the TN side and this was as per the design.

The Bengaluru- Chennai expressway would pass through states like AP, Karnataka and TN and it would be completed at an estimated cost of Rs 16730 crores. It is really sensational to mention here that after the completion of the expressway the travel time between Chennai and Bengaluru would come down by 2 to 3 hours. The existing 326km Chennai-Bengaluru bypass handles about 75000 vehicles in a day and travelling in this bypass would take 5 to 7 hours.
