3800 kids from across India participated in SIP National Abacus Competition in Chennai

National SIP Abacus Competition 2022 in Chennai today. This massive scale competition was held at Chennai Trade Centre in Nandambakkam. 

The Chief Guest Shri A Rajarajan, distinguished scientist and currently the Director of Satish Dhawan Space Centre SHAR (SDSC SHAR), Sriharikota, inaugurated the event. The afternoon session was presided over by Prof. Dr. Vetrivel, Head of Department Mathematics, IIT Madras and Shri, Adarsh Pachera, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police, T.Nagar, Chennai.

This mega event brought together around 3800 kids in Chennai from across India. The competition was conducted in two rounds and the children attempted to solve 300 mathematical problems in 11 minutes covering Abacus, multiplication and visual arithmetic sums. 

This is the 19th edition of the event. The earlier year events have achieved 4 LIMCA book of records for the size and pattern of the competition held in India and internationally. The parents of 3800 students were present and witnessed this massive competition along with SIP Abacus India employees. 

Speaking about the colossal event Mr. Dinesh Victor, Managing Director, SIP Academy India said that, We are happy to see the growth of the response for this competition every year. SIP Abacus develops skills of the children in Concentration, Numerical Ability, Visual Memory and Listening Skills and thereby gives immense confidence to them. The participation of such large numbers of children shows that they are benefitted by the skills they have acquired through the SIP Abacus programme and are keen to exhibit these skills at a national level.
