Chennai Metro City: Violation of traffic Rules: Rs. 1.88 Crores Penalty!

After the implementation of the recently revised traffic rules, Rs. 1.88 Crores has been levied as a penalty so far!
The revised traffic rules came into effect in Chennai Metro City on 19th October. Since then, from 19th October till 4th November, 30699 cases have been booked for traffic Rules violation!
A penalty of Rs 18882125 has been levied!
Out of the 30699 cases booked, the penalty amount of Rs. 7046196/- for 12625 cases has been collected!
A maximum of 8240 cases have been booked for driving a 2-wheeler without wearing a helmet! A penalty for this, is Rs. 4278808/- has been imposed!
4728 cases have been booked for driving a 2-wheeler without a helmet and a penalty of Rs. 1902618/- has been imposed.
1009 cases of `drunken driving` have been booked! For this, a penalty of Rs. 6788000/0 has been imposed!!
