In TN, immunity against flu virus reduced

Many people have lacked immunity against the influenza virus. This has been responsible for the spreading if flu infection now in Tamil Nadu. This was mentioned by the famous virologist Dr. Jacob John.
He later threw light on how for the last 2 years people have been wearing facemasks to protect from Covid 19 infection and how this has reduced their immunity levels against flu infection.
As soon as the people became relaxed about Covid 19 infection they got infected with influenza.
Now, vaccination for Covid infection has been given huge importance. Similarly, people must get their flu shots without fail. At least senior citizens and those with comorbid condition must get flu shots.
Point to be noted is that in India people do not take flu shots but in USA and in Australia people above 18 years of age gets vaccinated for flu. In these countries, many people due to flu infection as it is one of the major reasons for deaths.
