Sensational News!! Linking Aadhaar card with voter card is not compulsory - Election Commission!!

The sensational piece of news that has come out now is that the voters name in the voters list would not be deleted even if he or she has not linked their Aadhaar card and voter ID card.
According to the Election Commissions or EC statement, it was voluntary to submit Aadhaar in Form 6B and no entry on the electoral roll would be removed for non-submission of Aadhaar card.
On 4th July 2022, the EC sent letters to all Chief Electoral Officers of all states stating that the collection of Aadhaar from the voters to link and verify voter`s list data must be voluntary only.
It is worthy to mention here that provision has been made in the modified registration forms to obtain the Aadhaar details of the voters for linking Aadhaar number with their electoral roll data.
To get the Aadhaar numbers of the existing voters, a new form 6B has been introduced.
