An International Women`s Tennis Championships - Open WTA - to be organized at Chennai Metro City contest from 12th September to 18th September.
The Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP_ championship for men was regularly conducted at Chennai from 1997! However, this championship was transferred to Maharashtra later!
In this scenario, the championship for women known as WTA (Women`s Tennis Association) is set to be conducted in Chennai Metro City.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K Stalin is striving to promote a variety of Sports Events in Tamil Nadu.
The 44th Chess Olympiad was a recent event conducted super-successfully on a grand scale in Mamallapuram, near Chennai.
Now, the WTA championship is being organized with full support extended by the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister.
Tamil Nadu State Government is the main sponsor for this championship.
The championship is scheduled to be conducted at the Nungambakkam Stadium in Chennai Metro City.
The matches are set to be telecast online on Sony TV!
