Thanks to the efforts taken by Renault Nissan and Standard Chartered Bank, the visually impaired persons would feel relieved and happy now.
Two important railway stations in Chennai Central and Egmore are making sensational news now. These railway stations have now got Braille navigation maps installed by the southern railways or SR.
Hereafter, those persons who are visually impaired would not have huge difficulty in traversing through these railway stations and they would be able to do that on their own easily. Under the CSR initiative of Renault Nissan and Standard Chartered Bank, the Braille maps have been installed.
At these railway stations entrance, the maps of 3* 3 feet have been installed now. It is worthy to note that apart from enlisting various facilities the maps would also help the visually impaired persons to navigate across the stations to go to ticket counters, concourse areas, water taps, differently abled friendly toilets, waiting rooms, cloak rooms, FOB, entry/exit areas and platforms etc.
Braille boards and signages would have QR codes and these could be scanned by smartphones and by this the audio messages would get activated. These audio messages would then guide the visually impaired passengers towards the intended destinations inside the railway stations.
