In and around Vadapalani in Chennai, there is chaos now for this reason!!

Along the stretches in and around Vadapalani in Chennai, traffic diversions have been implemented for the purpose of metro rail works. It was thought that by traffic diversion there would be a seamless movement of traffic despite the construction works here. Just the opposite has been happening now and there is chaos in the area. This was explained by some regular motorists.

As per a resident from Valasaravakkam it was clear that the motorists were confused regarding the road that was one way and road that was two way. He added that in the peak hours traffic police here control the traffic. Truth is that vehicles come from all the sides leading to total chaos.

A departmental store owner from Arcot Road in Vadapalani spoke about how huge mounds of sand block the road. Many collisions take place here as the vehicles come from the wrong side of an already narrow road.

Driving on the sand is not an easy task and many drivers have been finding that here. They skid and fall down due to the sand here. It is now said that before any major accident takes place the issue must be sorted out quickly.

It was pointed out that all heavy vehicles including MTC buses coming from Vadapalani towards Porur must turn left at Arcot Road- Lakshmi Nagar 40 feet road junction and proceed through 40 feet Road, 3rd Cross Street, First Main Road and Mount Poonamallee Avadi Road to reach Porur Junction. It must be taken into account that the stretch from Lakshmi Nagar 40 feet Road to First Main Road has been made one-way.

It was later explained by a resident from Gangappa Street that the motorists go on the opposite side or on the interior roads choking the residential areas. He threw light on a recent incident where 2 speeding vehicles collided with each other around 11pm in the night resulting in heavy injury to one of the drivers. He concluded how the street where he resides used to be totally free in the past with rare plying of vehicles but now the street has become so busy.

It has become common to see autos outside a popular mall here even at the non-parking zone. This has led to long serpentine queues of vehicles here. It was brought out by traffic personnel that a warning was given to the auto drivers regularly regarding parking of autos but they come back again.
