Is the Mahatma Gandhi Statue at Marina Beach being shifted??

The construction activities are in progress for the laying of the Chennai Metro Rail Track between Lighthouse and Poonamallee. It has been planned to construct the Railway Station for this link near the Mahatma Gandhi Statue location in Marina Beach!
With the possibility that the Statue of Mahatma Gandhi might get damaged during the above construction, an appeal was made to shift the statue to a different location as a precautionary action.
The State Government of Tamil Nadu, after receiving this appeal, has directed this to the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) to review this thoroughly and then allow the shifting of the statue!
In this situation, the Greater Chennai Corporation has given a ‘No Objection Certificate’ to remove the statue of Mahatma Gandhi!
The Public Works Department (PWD) has been entrusted with the responsibility of shifting the statue of Mahatma Gandhi to another place till the completion of the Chennai Metro Rail construction activities . Presently, a review is being undertaken for the selection of a new place for shifting the statue of Mahatma Gandhi.
Information is gathered that a location can be decided on the service road on Marina Beach to shift the statue of Mahatma Gandhi and install it there.
Officials have informed us that once the construction work of the Chennai Metro Rail is 100% complete, the statue of Mahatma Gandhi will be reinstalled at its original place!!
