Bicycle track, walkways, bridges and sensory parks etc in Chennai inaugurated now!!

The Chief Minister TN, Mr. M.K. Stalin was cynosure of many eyes yesterday. He inaugurated many civic infrastructure facilities that included a leisure bicycle track and public spaces along the Buckingham Canal plus 2 bridges and parks for the kids with physical issues.

It is brought out that the 2.1km bicycle track along the Buckingham Canal from Kasthurba Nagar to Thiruvanmiyur MRTS would be a major attraction for kids as well as for the senior citizens.

Information collected is that the Rs 18/71 crore project includes a walkway plus Miyawaki forest, open gymnasium, sculpture and badminton courts etc. It must be noted that a new bridge across Puzhal Surplus Canal in Burma Nagar was also opened for the public use. Around 1lakh people residing in the Manali and Madhavaram zones would be benefited by this.

In Kottur and in Nolambur in Chennai, 2 sensory parks have been developed by the GCC and the kids with physical issues would benefit superbly from these parks.There would be wheelchair swings, musical chimes plus others like pipe telephone, infinity walking, tandem walking etc and these would be under CCTV surveillance.

Parks were inaugurated at Cooks Road (Ward 74), V.S. Mani Nagar near Madhavaram Roundtana (Ward 23), Karapakkam (Ward 194),Mogappair (Ward 143)and Sembium-RedHills Road (Ward 25) etc. In these parks, the GCC has constructed a platform for yoga and planted native tree species.

In the Tholkappia Poonga, a 3.2km walkway has been inaugurated and entry into this park would be regulated strictly. Identity cards would be issued to the people on payment of Rs 500 for one month, Rs 2500 for 6 months and Rs 5000 for one year to use the walkway here. People would be allowed to walk here from 6:30am to 8am in the morning and from 4:30 pm to 6pm in the evenings.
