Today - 31st March - is the last day for Aadhar - PAN Card link!! Penalty of Rs. 500/- will be imposed from tomorrow!

The Central Government Department of Income Tax has strictly warned the citizens that PAN Card (Permanent Account Number for Income Tax) and Aadhar Card MUST BE LINKED BEFORE TODAY END (Thursday, 31st March)!
OTHERWISE, A PENALTY OF Rs. 500/- TO Rs. 1000/- WILL BE IMPOSED!!
It may be recalled that the central government has extended the deadline for the PAN-Aadhar link several times in the last few years! The final deadline has been set as 31st March (Thursday, TODAY).
In a notification released by the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) in this regard, it is mentioned:
“Today (Thursday, 31st March) is the last day for linking Aadhar Card with PAN Card. Note that for those who failed to link Aadhar-PAN by this deadline would lead to the blocking of the PAN Card! Further, a penalty of Rs. 500/- will be levied from 1st April for 3 months - up to 30th June.
In case Aadhar-PAN link is not done even after 0th June, apenalty of Rs. 1000/- will be levied on these citizens!
Note that the PAN would be restored to service ONLY AFTER THE PENALTY IS PAID!!”
In this regard, AKM Global Tax shareholder Amit Maheswari shared: “With several extensions given for Aadhar-PAN link, the ultimate deadline is given now! So, the Tax Payers have to ensure the link of Aadhar-PAN to avoid paying penalty! It may be noted that some of the Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) have not received their Aadhar cards yet and this may lead to some hardships for them!”
