Prospects for heavy rains in Delta Districts in Tamil Nadu!

The Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre has informed that there are strong prospects for heavy rains in the Delta Districts in Tamil Nadu State.

In a notification released today (Friday, 11th February) by the Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre regarding this, it is mentioned:

“Due to the cyclonic format developed over the Bay of Mannar at a height of 1.5 km in the atmosphere, the weather forecast for the respective dates:

11th February:  There are prospects for mild to medium rain with lightning and thunder in southern districts of Thanjavur, Thiruvallur, Nagappattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Cuddalore, Pudhukkottai, and Karaikkal. In the southern coastal districts and the delta districts, there are prospects for heavy rains in 1 or 2 places, A dry climate will prevail in other places.

12th February:  There are prospects for mild to medium rain with lightning and thunder in a few places in the south Tamil Nadu districts of Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Nagappattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Cuddalore, Pudhukkottai and Karaikkal. There are prospects for heavy rain in a few places in the delta districts, Madurai, Sivagangai, Virudhunagar, Ramanathapuram, Thenkasi, Thirunelveli, Thoothukkudi and Kanyakumari and Karaikkal. A dry climate will prevail in other places.

13th February to 15th February: There are prospects for mild to medium rain in the southern coastal districts of Tamil Nadu. A dry climate will prevail in other districts and Puducherry and Karaikkal.

As regards Chennai Metro City, the sky will remain partly cloudy for the next 48 hours. The maximum temperature will be 31 Degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature will be 22 Degrees Celsius.

Kodikkarai-8, Vedaranyam-7, Thiruppondi-5, Velankanni-4, Thiruthuraippoondi, Karaikkal and Thirukkuvalai- 3 each, Thalaignayiru, Nagappattinam, Thiruvarur, Pandavaiyar-2 each, Kodaikkanal, Madhukkur, Adhiramapattinam- 1 each.

Warning for fishermen:

11th February: Strong high-speed winds at 30 kmph to 40 kmph will blow across the Bay of Mannar and Kumari Ocean area. Fishermen are warned to take precautions in these areas.

12th February: In the region of the Bay of Mannar and Kumara Ocean, high-speed winds may blow at 40 kmph to 50 kmph
