The rapid spread of Coronavirus infection and Omicron variant has been affecting many persons in every nook and corners across the globe. Some persons have mild symptoms or they are asymptomatic whereas other persons show few major symptoms. There are many people who are in home isolation now because they have mild symptoms or they are asymptomatic.

The important piece of information is that home isolation cannot be decided by the affected person or their families. Home isolation must be done based on medical advice only. This is due to the fact that Covid-19 affects lungs mostly.

Information gathered is that the health secretary of TN Mr, J. Radhakrishnan has written letters to the district collectors and to the authorities belonging to the health department regarding various measures that must be taken immediately to control the spread of Coronavirus infection. It must be noted that the health secretary has warned people taking decisions with respect to home isolation after searching in Google. Enforcement of proper test regime as recommended by ICMR must be carried out at all the levels.

There are many persons in TN who are yet to receive even the first vaccination dose and there are also many senior citizens who are yet to receive the booster dose. These persons must be encouraged to get vaccinated. He threw light on how home isolation was neither the choice of the individual nor a choice to be decided after Google diagnosis.

The affected persons must not take medications by themselves and they must consult the doctor compulsorily. It is essential to wear facemasks, maintain social distancing and wash hands with sanitizers and follow the Covid 19 protocols. Controlling the spread of Covid-19 infection is not only the responsibility of the government but of the individuals also. The health secretary stressed the need to increase surveillance and awareness in crowded public places.
