Pazhani - Lord Muruga Temple: Grand Thaippoosam Festival - Divine flag-hoisting ceremony on 12th January!

At the Famous Pazhani temple of Lord Muruga, the occasion of Thaippoosam’ (The day on which the Star falls in the Tamil Calendar month of Thai) is celebrated traditionally and annually with great devotion, verve, and enthusiasm.
During the next year’s Thaippoosam which will be celebrated grandly in the year 2022 as well, the divine flag-hoisting ceremony is to be celebrated with the Divine Flag-hoisting Ceremony to be performed on 12th January at 6.45 AM!
Subsequently, the event of sacred marriage OR Thirukkalyanam will be and performed and celebrated on 17th January at 5.00 PM. On the same night at 8.00 PM, the deity of Lord Muruga will be taken on a procession on the silver chariot at 8.00 PM on the same day (17th January).
The grand Thaippoosam festival will be performed on 18th January. On the same day at 4.45 PM, the Divine chariot procession will be taken. At 7.00 PM on 24th January, the event of ‘Meltheppatther’ will be performed.
As such, in the prevailing background of daunting Omicron spread, preventive action has been initiated by the temple administration for the devotees adhering to observe social distancing.
Further, ALL DEVOTEES ATTENDING THIS FESTIVAL MUST WEAR FACIAL MASKS!
Stocks of sanitiser and masks have been kept ready.
Essential Facilities for the devotees such as the provision of drinking water, temporary toilets, and medical assistance are being arranged through the various State Government Departments.
