Know about this first Omicron variant case in Tamil Nadu that is creating fear now!

The Omicron variant of Coronavirus has been spreading like fire all over and many cases are getting reported from various places in India. Many are worrying so much now regarding the rapidly spreading variant. Till now, there has not been even a single case of this new variant virus in the state of Tamil Nadu.
The news now is that ICMR-National Institute of Virology has confirmed the presence of the first ever Omicron case in TN. This has now set the alarm bells ringing. On 10th December, the person aged 47 arrived in Chennai from Nigeria via Doha and he had tested positive for Omicron variant. Truth is that he was not in isolation as he came from a non-risk country. His close contacts are being traced now.
The shocking piece of news is that atleast 6 of his relatives have been infected and this was announced by the Directorate of Public Health and Preventive Medicine. Yesterday, one of his co-passengers tested positive and he was from Valasaravakkam in Chennai. The health minister Mr M. Subramanian has confirmed that all have just mild infection. Their health is now stable.
Information is that the main patient and his family members have been admitted to the Guindy based King Institute for treatment. These persons are found to be asymptomatic and they are fine now. The S gene level drop in the samples of these persons has led to some doubt that they might be affected with the Omicron variant. The results have been received from the National Institute of Virology.
