Chennai Meteorological Centre - Prospects for very heavy rains in the next 48 hours in Chennai Metro City! Red Alert issued!

The Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre has informed that there are prospects for very heavy rain in 10 districts today (Saturday, 27th November)!
In a notification released by the Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre in this regard, it is mentioned:
“Due to the cyclonic format prevailing in the upper layers of the atmosphere over the Kanyakumari Ocean and the adjacent Sri Lanka Coastal area, there are prospects for very heavy rain with lightning and thunder in 1 or 2 places in the districts of Ranippettai and Thiruvallur and there are prospects for heavy to very heavy rain with lightning and thunder in a few places in the districts of Chennai, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Thiruvannamalai, Vellore, Thirunelveli, Ramanathapuram, and Kanyakumari.
There are prospects for heavy rain with lightning and thunder in 1 or 2 places in the districts of Trichy, Pudhukkottai, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Kallakurichi, Salem, Namakkal, Tirupur, Erode, Coimbatore, Nilgiri, Thenkasi, Cuddalore, Pudhukkottai, and the delta districts and Puducherry and Karaikkal.
There are prospects for widespread medium rain with lightning and thunder in the other districts.
As regards tomorrow (Sunday, 28th November), there are prospects for heavy to very heavy rains with lightning and thunder in a few places in the Northern coastal districts and Puducherry and Karaikkal.
There are prospects for heavy rain with lightning and thunder in a few places in the districts of Ariyalur, Perambalur, Kallakurichi, Salem, Dharmapuri, Tirupur, Coimbatore, Erode, and Nilgiri.
There are prospects for medium rain with lightning and thunder in the other districts.
On 29th November, there are prospects for heavy to very heavy rains with lightning and thunder in a few places in the districts of Kanyakumari, Thirunelveli, Thoothukkudi, and Ramanathapuram. There are prospects for heavy rain with lightning and thunder in a few places in the districts of Thenkasi, Madurai, Virudhunagar, Pudhukkottai, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Thiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu, and Villupuram.
There are prospects for widespread medium rain with lightning and thunder in the other districts and Puducherry and Karaikkal.
On 30th November, there are prospects for heavy rain with lightning and thunder in a few places in the districts of Thoothukkudi, Ramanathapuram, Thirunelveli, Madurai, and Virudhunagar.
There are prospects for widespread mild rain with lightning and thunder in the other districts and Puducherry and Karaikkal.
As regards Chennai Metro City, there are prospects for heavy to very heavy rain in a few places in the city with lightning and thunder in the next 48 hours.
Warning for fishermen: Bay of Bengal Sections:
On 27th & 28th November, high-speed cyclonic winds might blow at 40 kmph to 50 kmph and at 60 kmph intermittently in the Kanyakumari Ocean, Southwest Bay of Bengal, and the South Tamil Nadu coasts.
There are prospects for a new low-pressure zone to form in the Andaman Ocean area on 29th November. This may intensify further and drift towards west and northwest directions. Due to this, high-speed cyclonic winds may blow at 40 kmph to 50 kmph and intermittently at 60 kmph in the Andaman Ocean areas on 29th & 30th November.
As such, fishermen are warned not to venture into the sea on these dates in these sections!
